Patty’s journey to creating Steer West didn’t follow a straight line. Instead, it wove together two worlds most people would never think to combine beauty and agriculture into a skincare brand that is as clean, sustainable, and authentic as the place she calls home.

When she first moved to Wyoming, Patty was searching for freedom, purpose, and a life built with her own hands. She found all three, slowly and unexpectedly, through her education. She began at Central Wyoming College, where she earned her AA in Cosmetology. There, she learned the science of skin, the importance of quality ingredients, and the art of caring for people. Raised on a small family ranch, she was fascinated by the journey of beef from the field to the table—and wanted to understand it firsthand.

That curiosity led her back to CWC, this time as part of the college’s very first Meat Science Program. She graduated with her Meat Science Certificate the following semester, gaining a deep understanding of food safety, harvesting, and fabrication. The experience opened her eyes to the importance of honoring the whole animal—reducing waste at every step—and respecting the ranching traditions that sustain Western communities.

These two parts of her education cosmetology and meat science might have seemed worlds apart, but for Patty, they fit together naturally.

One taught her how to nourish skin. The other taught her how to respect the source. Together, they inspired Steer West.

          In a small Wyoming butcher shop where she first practiced her skills, Patty began experimenting with tallow, an ingredient she knew was incredibly beneficial for the skin. Slowly, intentionally, she began creating products that reflected everything she believed in: clean formulas, sustainable sourcing, and genuine respect for land and livestock.

Steer West grew from that commitment. Every batch carries the knowledge she earned in the salon chair and the cutting room alike. Every jar reflects her promise to keep things honest, simple, and close to their roots.

Today, Steer West stands as a reflection of Patty’s journey—her education, her values, and her love for the West. It’s skincare crafted with intention, inspired by tradition, and built on the belief that the best products come from people who understand every step of the process.
